The concerts of this year Weltturbojugendtage (WTJT) follow the motto of metal vs. punk with the thrash metal legend Sodom and Germany’s hardcore punk heroes Smoke Blow as highlights.
WTJT show on Friday:
Sodom, Germany's thrash legend from the Ruhrpott and part of The Big Teutonic 4 will play at WTJT one of their very first shows as a four piece. Tom Angelripper recruited Frank Blackfire who was in Sodom during late 80ties and is responsible for albums like “Agent Orange” and “Persecution Mania” next to drummer „Husky“ and Yorck Segatz for the next era of a seminal band that not only defined thrash metal in the Old World but inspired bands such as Kvelertak.
Asphyx will doom you to death for sure. The dutch Death Metal powerhouse started their career in 1987 and became one of the few Death Metal bands from the first phase still standing strong. Their live shows are always epic and we are looking forward to hear what singer Martin van Drunen has to say in between the songs.
Traitor play their thrash in the vein of Kreator and Exodus with a singing and screaming drummer. This unique and fresh band from the south of Germany was voted Newcomer of the year from Rock Hard magazine in 2015.
WTJT show on Saturday:
Many of you will remember with awe how Smoke Blow destroyed a WW2 bunker during WTJT 3. The hardcore punks from Northern Germany have common influences with TRBNGR und unite them into a highly explosive, extremely exciting sound. They are coolness incarnates and a worthy headliner of WTJT XIV.
Hard Action are igniting a short and intense hard rock firework that kicks ass. Their musical skillfulness and wild energy made their debut an unexpected underground success. Some refer to the Finnish powerhouse as the Hanoi Rocks of the 21st century. At WTJT, they will deliver exactly what we asking for, an intense rock’n’roll show with a punkish vibe.
To underline the international character of the Weltturbojugendtage, we try to book bands from all corners of the world. This year, we welcome Alien Weaponry from New Zealand at WTJT. The three-piece from Middle Earth mixes tribal elements of Sepultura’s Root with djenty riffs and creates a rhythmic juggernaut that is always in a state of flux between lush passages and low-end chugs with a playful arrangement.
The Saturday show will start with incessant bass buzzing, the drums galloping off, and a hoarse voice raising. The Boatsmen from Sweden are an elemental force on stage and will show how much fun punk’n’roll can be.
Imperial State Electric had to cancel due to Tobias currently undergoing serious medical treatment which he will be in recovery from over this period. Consequently, all ISE shows are postponed until Tobias treatment and recovery are over.
